Centralized price management in Business Central

Microsoft is constantly working to improve and expand Business Central. At Dysel, we follow these developments closely. We anticipate them in a timely manner so that our customers benefit from new features and functionalities immediately. In 2022, I expect to see centralized price management as part of Business Central. What is that and what advantages does it offer?

A new pricing structure

Users of Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central are used to setting up pricing structures for various things. Hourly rates for employees, prices for items, discount structures, surcharges, etc. For now, setting and managing these is done in different places; in other words, decentralized. This is expected to change in 2022 with an update to Business Central. Microsoft is coming with centralized price management: the setting and management of all pricing structures in one location.

Where is Microsoft with this?

The technical part has already been implemented by Microsoft and I expect Microsoft to roll out this functionality during 2022 and thus make it available to customers.

"Managing all prices in one place is more convenient and saves a lot of time and effort."

Where are we at Dysel?

Dysel's developers and consultants already have access to this functionality, and we are analyzing how the current pricing structure can soon be transferred to this new setup. This is a challenging job, but by working on this now we still have plenty of time to design, develop and implement this in our Dysel solution. Consultants and developers are working closely together on this. The consultants know in detail how our customers work and in what way they can gain maximum benefit from this improvement in Business Central. Our developers know exactly what is technically possible and how the solution proposed by the consultants can actually be implemented in the system.

What are the benefits of centralized pricing management?

Quite simply, managing all prices in one place is more convenient and saves a lot of time and effort. Many of Dysel's customers have pricing settings and structures for different departments, for example for discounts on new or used sales, rental rates, service technician rates, parts prices, etc. Setting these up takes a lot of time, as does managing these pricing structures. With centralized price management, this becomes a lot easier.
